...a different perspective perhaps

i'm getting ready to take my 5 little ones up to the slopes today.  it's been such a joy to watch my warm blooded phoenicians layer themselves up with leggings and longjohns and puffy ski pants, extra shirts, jackets and gloves. their heads completely covered with beanies and helmets and goggles.  after being raised a "snowbunny" all my life on the beautiful wasatch front and working at a ski resort for 3 years i'm finding sheer delight at watching them try to stumble around in ski boots.  it's a hoot.

i've had something on my mind and wanted to share it with you as it's put my thinking into a different perspective perhaps the past few days.

what did you get for FROM christmas?

  2. I love this question. It really made think. From christmas I got love. The most beautiful kind of love from family. It brings me to tears just thinking of it now. Thank you for reminding me of the love that surrounds me.

  3. Awe, I love it. So much what Christmas should be! I got from Christmas a new appreciation of the beauty in the simple things. I watched as so many people around me went into debt and stressed out and hubby and I just nested and made it all about the two of us and our joy in being together, healthy, and happy. Our family was all out in Cali so it was easier not to get caught up in all the excitement. Instead of being sad about it, we found our own little joy in it!!
Now I need to tell you what a doll you are to me. You say the sweetest things on my blog and I LOVE you dearly! You did not miss the class, it really doesn't start until the 1st, but Suzi ended up letting us download the first lesson, so you didn't miss a thing! Sign up and be my art friend! It is so cool, kind of like Facebook, so we can send little messages and look at each other's work! I can't wait for you to join my dear friend! I want to meet you in person too...something to look forward too! Hugs and much love my friend! Let me know when you get signed up!!

  4. Hi Chrissy, I am sorry that I have not emailed or posted on my blog for a while, I just was "doing life" offline for a bit. I cannot find your email address for some reason, if you can send me a note I would love to send you a proper email. (lspotts@sbcglobal.net)

Ok, as for what what I got from Christmas, I got some much needed rest, relaxation, and family time. It has felt nice. I did some reflecting on our dear friend who was not here this year, and feel some peace in the memories that we have. I think I am back in the swing of things, even did a sketch the other day. Now, if that does not all sound wonderful, the bread machine that has been pumping out loaves and loaves of bread since Christmas morning help to make it all a bit more yummy! haha

  5. Chrissy, I have been meaning to respond but had to think about this a little. I love Christmas and am always reluctant to let it go - you know, hate to take down the tree and put away the decorations, etc. For me, Christmas brought renewed connections with family and friends. Everyone wants to connect this time of year, it seems, even those we don't normally hear from. I just love all the cards, letters, pictures, and cute e-cards!! It's been kind of a lonely year in some ways for me and I am so grateful to you and my lovely blogger friends for keeping those connections going all through the year. Can't wait to see what 2010 brings us! Love you, sweet friend!!

  6. peace and quiet. :)

I remember all those layers. Goodness .. it amazes me the layers I used to put on to go running in the winter. Such dedication. Good thing I lost that dedication when I left the snowy life. ;)
