...happy birthday dr. seuss

any child who has ever been read to or has learned to read themselves or has grown up, turned into...an aunt, a sister, a mommy, a grandma,
anyone with someone close by with ears to hear...
has certainly boxed with foxes in socks.  wanted a talking fish.  wondered what green eggs and ham really taste like. do cats wear hats?  they.ve hopped on pop.  they like to hop.  they like to hop on top of pop.  their brothers read a little bit.  little words like if and it.  their fathers can read big words too like constantinople and timbuktu.  one fish.  two fish.  red fish.  blue fish.  where do they come from?  i can.t say.  but i bet they have come a long, long way.  please let me be. please go away.
i am not going to get up today!
they.ve dreamed of a visit from thing 1 and thing 2.
i always wanted that...why?....didn.t you?
they.ve wondered how horton could creep up like that.
where he sat and he sat and he sat and he sat.
but the lesson he taught we will never forget...
"i meant what i said.  and i said what i meant.....
an elephant.s faithful 100 percent"
so,
be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray
or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O.shea,
you.re off to great places!
today is your day!
your mountain is waiting...
so.....get on your way!
happy birthday dr. seuss!
what.s your favorite dr. seuss book?
(for fun info on dr. seuss who really wasn.t a doctor at all
and a really silly place for all you kids (big and small) to play at...visit seussville)

  7. Wacky Wednesday is my fav, when he wrote it, he
wasn't Dr. Seuss, yet. We use to do something
wacky every Wednesday after reading this book!

Usually we eat breakfast for supper and once in awhile we ate dessert first; I know wacky!

    Love it, great post....

  10. I love dr. seuss he is one of my favorites. I actually read his books out loud to myself in bed. They are filled with so many incredible life lessons. Thanks for reminding me it is his birthday! Have you ever seen "In Search of Dr. Seuss?" I only have it on VHS (and don't even own a VHS player) nut it is really neat. You learn a lot about his life. I also loved Sueussical, The Musical. I saw it on broadway and listen to the soundtrack all of the time. Dr. Seuss is such an inspiration.

"How did it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon. December is here before it's June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?"

  13. Yep, these books are classic! Imagination meets good old-fashioned "you can do it" thinking. A definite icon of its time.

Dr. Seuss is wonderful. I like "Oh the Places You'll Go" and was given a copy by a dear teacher upon graduating high school.
I would like to e-mail you about something...Or you can e-mail me at doughnutdreams@yahoo.com.

  19. Some of my favorite Dr. Seuss lines are from are few words he is reported to have said at a party one night, "If my daddy hadn't met up with my mommy, Id' have missed this fine party tonight. If my daddy had shacked up with somebody else, just supposing for instance Miss Abigail Schmelz, or Patricia McFish or Louella McGee, I wouldn't have resulted, I wouldn't be me..."
